Offline advertising

Offline advertising (advertising in print) can be more expensive than online advertising, but it's a highly effective way of promoting your product or service.

People still prefer to sit down and read magazines than reading articles on-line and may look through them multiple times or pass them on to friends.

There are a number of steps to consider when embarking on an offline advertising campaign.

First you must decide what the advert is to achieve - why are you advertising? Rather than just 'to get more sales/customers' a more specific goal is simpler to target, more effective and easier to quantify the results. 'to get more customers in the post graduate education provider market in London' or 'to increase sales to automotive manufacturers in Japan' are better examples.

Where to advertise? Nationally or locally? In trade publications, associated business catalogues or brochures, directories, posters, billboards, newspapers, handouts, direct mail or event programmes?

All these things and many more must be considered prior to starting a campaign.
