Silk Screen printing

This process gets its name from the original silk 'screens' that used to be used to apply the ink. A silk 'screen was used and the area that the ink was not wanted was masked off. The ink was then squeezed through the silk onto the item below. This system is still basically the same today except that the silk has now been replaced with a synthetic material. This process is mosed commonly used for garments and promotional items where only one or two colours are required and the image is un-complicated.

Web printing

This process is similar to Lithograophic printing but the paper is fed into the press from a continuous roll. It is most commonly used for large run items where the quality is not as important as the quantity. Newspapers and low quality supplements and catalogues are printed using this process.
